Base Camp Featured in Puget Sound Business Journal
/JA’s Base Camp project was featured in Puget Sound Business Journal, as it’s currently on the market for a cool $5.8 million.
“Bill Broadhead and Julie McCoy, owners of longtime Seattle-based political consulting firm Mercury Group, fell in love with the waterfront land right near Roslyn in 2010, thinking it would be an easy-access wilderness retreat they would build for themselves and their five sons.”
“Their vision went from drawing board to reality in 2013, collaborating with renowned Seattle architect Ray Johnston of Johnston Architects. The result was an award-winning, unique, energy-efficient, eco-conscious, high-tech mountain getaway they dubbed ‘Base Camp’.”
“Broadhead envisions a large family buying it. ‘Maybe a multi-generational family where the grandparents want to have a great environment to spend time with kids and grandkids,’ he said. ‘Or a local corporate executive who wants a close-by place to blast out to in his or her spare time.’”
“‘It’s like living in the middle of nowhere, with every convenience and service right nearby,’ Broadhead said. Their five sons are mostly all grown and moving in their own circles, so the 7,700-square foot retreat on almost two acres is more than the couple needs.”
