SEATTLE AQUARIUM VET CLINIC
JA led the design of an interior remodel to the Seattle Aquarium, adding a new 750 SF veterinarian clinic on the upper level of their facility at Piers 59-60. While the piers along the waterfront provide a picturesque and desirable location for the Aquarium, it added complications to the project. The building’s placement over Elliott Bay and its salt water environment required energy code and materials coordination, as many common solutions for meeting code with the City of Seattle would not stand up to the facility’s wet conditions. JA worked closely with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering partners to make the adjustments necessary to meet the City’s energy requirements and specify products that would stand up to these environmental elements.
The new veterinary clinic includes a surgical suite, animal treatment room, ICU, necropsy, and provides ADA-compliant restrooms. JA collaborated with specialized architecture firm Animal Arts to strengthen the design of these spaces.
