QUILCENE RETREAT

Designed as a quiet retreat for multiple generations of a family long-rooted in Washington State, the Quilcene cabin is sited along Hood Canal, carefully placed around wetlands, and nestled into a steeply sloped site. Segmented into three parts, the home separates living, entertainment, and sleeping quarters to accommodate family members decades apart in age. A carport keeps vehicles out of the elements without wasting space or materials on a garage that won’t be used on a daily basis. Walls of glass open up to a wrap-around deck cantilevered into the trees. In every room, windows frame sweeping views of Quilcene Bay on Washington’s picturesque Olympic Peninsula.
