BOZEMAN LIBRARY

The Bozeman Library anchors one end of this vibrant Montana town, serving as a cultural magnet for Gallatin County and a primary year-round destination for patrons. Soaring windows, incredible views of the Bridger Mountains from the Montana Room, and an expansive physical and electronic library bring exceptional information services to the region.

Local municipalities worked with citizens to develop a unique public/private funding program to realize this project. Once home to the train depot for the Chicago Milwaukee Railroad, the site’s soil was contaminated with asbestos and lead. The client’s lofty goal of achieve LEED Silver Certification required a thorough, full site soils remediation. The Bozeman Library was the first LEED building in Bozeman, the fourth in Montana, and the state’s first municipal building to receive such a rating. The LEED Silver library is more than twice its previous size but uses the equivalent amount of energy.
