S’Klallam House of Knowledge

The House of Knowledge is the realization of a dream for the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe near Kingston, Washington. The project consists of a new Longhouse, Education Center, future Elder Center and future Library. The heart and soul of the complex is the Longhouse. It’s cedar clad exterior and interior walls enclose a vast performance space and built-in wood seating, supported by a frame of Douglas Fir log columns and beams. The Longhouse is the first such building of it’s kind in over 100 years for the S’Klallam Tribe. This project is a collaboration between Johnston Architects
and Cutler Anderson Architects of
Bainbridge Island.
